Blood Moon - 26th September 2015

The moon turned blood red on Saturday in some parts of India during the shortest lunar eclipse of the century. During the eclipse, the moon looks red because sunlight has passed through the Earth’s atmosphere, which filters out most of its blue light.
This photograph was taken from Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka just after the eclipse. The distinct red halo lasted only for a few minutes before gradually fading away.
