San Francisco city hall

San Francisco city hallSan Francisco city hallContrasting scenes at the San Francisco city hall with all its grandeur against the surrounding mundane street life indifferent to the magnificent structure.

Located in Civic Center, the San Francisco city hall epitomizes the high-minded American Renaissance of the 1880s to 1917. Flaunting its dome - the fifth largest in the world and taller than that of the United States Capitol - the city hall is really a marvelous piece of architectural granduer.

However, the landscape surrounding it is actually quite mundane and presents a stark contrast to the grand structure. The buzzing street life - the hawkers, the homeless, the workers and the administrators - going about their routines indifferent to the marvelous monument overlooking them.
